Naui allows OW grads to go directly to Rescue. I
don't think it's too bad an idea. There was such
a couple in my rescue class when I took it 4 years
back. One of them was going to be involved in
research diving and needed to get up to a level of
competency. Both had the right attitudes, and
performed fine in the class.
I'd agree that someone with no recent diving in
California like waters has no business in a rescue
class here. I'd expect the instructor to bounce
someone like that.
