I'm not saying it wouldn't be safer on mix. It would. In my situation I feel that these dives are an acceptable risk on air. I give up bottom time and shorter deco, but until I win the Lotto or the certification agencies write a tech course that doesn't include so many prerequisites I'm stuck with good old air. If the conditions don't warrant long deco, I just move on to a shallow reef and do a recreational dive. I just happen to enjoy diving spots that wery few divers will ever see.
