Welcome to Southern California diving. I don't know how diving is in Finland, but when I relocated here from Germany, I was quite disappointed at first. The water was cold, visibility was bad, beach entries and exits were hard due to the surf, divesites appeared kind of dull.
Some 30 dives later, I loved the diving here. Got used to the temperatures (I now dive a drysuit), got used to the lower visibility, learned how to negotiate waves, and started appreciating the rich sea life here (and learned that I was spoiled from my vacation dives to exotic tropical destinations). SoCal diving is some of the best, and it is right there to enjoy every day without much travelling or cost involved.
So, once again: welcome to SoCal diving.
