22 explorer is a good quality gun. The 22 explorer is a light weight reef gun so it will only be effective with small fish. If this is the type of spearfishing you plan on doing then it is a good gun to go with. If you plan on deeper waters or larger fish then I reccommend a heavier gun. JBL has a full line of spearguns to meet every need.
