This is a shameless plug to let those in LA know that there really is a free diving sport called Underwater Hockey. It's played with snorkling gear at the bottom of a pool using short handheld sticks, a plastic coated lead puck and people holding their breath to score against the other side. It's played in 6 cities in California, at least 20 others around the US and in 24 countries around the world!
In LA we play Thursday evenings at LA Valley College Pool. Play is from 8 - sometimes 9:45pm. For more information and links go to http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Rapids/4528/hockey.html
We're even in this months LA Magazine as one of the Cool Things to Do in LA. http://www.lamag.com/cover.htm (search for hockey, though the article says Wednesday which is our old day)
Oh, everyone is invited to come join us. I usually get there around 7:30pm and work with new players to show them how it's done. Come on out and join us, it's a blast!!!
