A year is many weekends. That could be alot of dive trips. I would have to suggest that you do buy your own gear. By doing this you will only become a better diver. This will be safer for yourself and those who dive around you. Afterall it is only life support equipment. Ask yourself how serious you are about diving. Then ask yourself if you would want to be a dive buddy to yourself. Good luck. Rob
