I was trained in OKINAWA by a NAUI instructor who had no bones about washing you out or rephaseing your training, quite young and mad at the time, little did I know his training would save not only my life but my brothers too.
Yes NAUI instructors do make a difference, and my wife has now gotten on my case and said I need to join the NAUI intructor ranks. 30 years of diveing in over 23 countries has given me a lot to look at when dice operaters would ask if I would like to join them, some I would not join them in a bar for a rouseing round of fisty cuffs.
NAUI does have the best training, also has the hardest courses to pass because they care about each person put in the water.
PADDI is another hard certificate to get.
So why am I posting this, because out there I may save someones life by asking you this simple question"Does this guy look like he can save me if push comes to shove or is he going to save himself first?" Ask that question next time you dive, at least you will be prepared to save yourself and fight the panick attack that is sure to hit in that emergancy. Mike Bonell said it best
Panic is a great feeling it gets you awake to do the right thing..just dont foget what I taught you!. I never forgot Mike, and a wee bit late(30 years) but thanks for training me.
sincerly,
