A question about P.N.G.

We are leaving for P.N.G in a couple days and we were informed that we were only allowed to have 70 lbs of luggage per person on the flight from Cairns Australia to Port Morsby P.N.G. (a $2.00 per lbs for anything over 70 lbs each way) Has anyone experienced this problem, and perhaps know a way around this?
