one estimate i heard was 40,000 u.s. citizens per year--
of course this is just in the u.s. and not a worldwide
estimate.
on 'npr' the other day, i learned that pedestrians
in san fran are dropping like flies in automobile
related crashes: 2 per day is this year's average.
