San Diego city lifeguards planned to search the waters from La
Jolla Shores Beach to La Jolla Cove today for a 51-year-old diver
missing since yesterday morning.
Ron Fuller's wife reported around 6:30 p.m. that he left home at 9
a.m. to go diving and had not returned. She told lifeguards that he
went alone and was using a homemade breathing apparatus
designed to convert carbon-dioxide to oxygen.
Authorities found Fuller's car in the La Jolla Shores Beach parking
lot. Lifeguards used boats and paddle boards to search the area
until dark and planned to resume, with diving teams, about 7 a.m., a
lifeguard official said.
