I had to run to avoid being late for work.

I wanted to end with the comment that after the dive, you are usually weaker (exhausted from the dive) which makes it even harder to exit through the surf. The last and hardest step is actually to get out of the water through that soggy sand. The steeper, the harder. Don't ever feel ashamed to crawl on all four. This is how to survive if all else is too hard. And remember, keep your regulator in the mouth at all times, until you are safe and dry!
