There's two issues in this:
1. RSD's messages.
I won't go there.
2. Solo diving--yes or no.
For a general rule, I'd agree to "who has to ask isn't ready for it yet". I'd also agree that an experienced diver who knows what he's doing and who prepares for a solo dive specifically, is safer than the average buddy diver who believes in a safety net that isn't there when he needs it most.
I personally prefer solo diving for the selfish reason of getting more out of it. Nobody to watch out for, nobody that can get me in trouble. I'm responsible for myself and I do a good job.
