It always amazes me when a solo diver dies how quick people are to point out the fact that a buddy would have saved their life. There have been many cases where there were multiple tragedies from a buddy trying to rescue someone else. Some on this board like to point out Darren and Jeremiah Douglass, but there have been husband and wife teams as well as friends die together. If done correctly, solo diving carries the same dangers as well as safty factors as buddy diving. Most people drive solo, but still have accidendts. Having a relief driver when you get tired would be safer, but a traffic accident could kill both.
