My wife and I are looking to purchase a runabout/dive platform. I have been eyeing a Zodiac or other RIB, having had good experiences diving off them. But I've seen pictures/folk diving off rigid hull boats.
Basically, I've been doing a lot of research on models, but I would like to hear people's opinions of the different types of platforms. I have about $5-6K to play with (but the less spent on the platform the more spent on toys like GPS).
Are there any makes/models I should avoid? I've heard rumors about banning two-stroke engines, but just about every motor I've looked at has been a two-stroke.
Any places that have good deals on used boats (and don't say ebay :-). Or places that people have had good purchasing experiences with? I am located in Central California, and I have no problems with hitting either the Bay or SoCal (San Diego included) to look.
