It seems to me that the New York and Florida tech diver's have a personality unto themselves. Whether you agree or disagree with either of these to diametricly opposit viewpoints, you must atleast acknowledge you know where they stand. Individual choice -v- buddy reliance. Freedom of gear -v- HOG reliance etc. etc. etc.
My view is that I see too many *tech* diver's out here that have neither knowledge or commitment. The tech movement in Calif. is gaining in popularity everyday. But what I don't see being gained out here is the desire and/or commitment to do it safely.
What I fear has happened ( for the most part ) is that because of the colder waters, stronger currents, and limited vis we turn out very good divers. But just because you are a very good diver doesn't mean you are a good tech diver.
I would like to see a stronger commitment to * Doing It Safely *.
Any thoughts???
