My time is pretty much taken up right now by my DM training class, but I thought that you might be interested in a program that the shop I go to has. It's called the Dive Team. The Dive Team is set up to give opportunities for people in N. CA to have dive buddies. Last week we were in Monterey. When all the lodging ended up full due to the classic car show, the D.T. arragned rental of an RV. In September we are camping out at Salt Point to do a beach clean-up, diving, and ... The D.T. was able to reserve capmsites at no charge. In early November, we are going to Monterey again. There is a minimal annual membership to cover mailings, phone calls, etc., but the trips are at cost.
The shop is in Rohnert Park (~ 45 min. north of S.F., but people from a wide area go on the trips.
