I only mentioned the gear configuration because I tend to relax more when I know exactly what to do and what to expect my buddy to do in an emergency. Using similar configs allows me to know their setup as well as my own. Although I've never been in the situation, a seven foot hose would allow me to pass through small openings after removing my gear much easier.
