I've done it, I loved it, I'll do it again.

Today, with more experience, I'm a bit more selective in what kind of dives I'd do solo. Nothing in rough conditions like heavy current.
Deeper than 60ft only with pony. Real planning before the dive, as opposed to none with a team of friends, when we know it will be not deeper than 40, 50 feet anyway.

Preferrably at familiar sites, but also at unfamiliar ones.

I like the idea of solo only from charter boats. HOwever, I've done solo beach and kayak dives and would do it again as long as I can be sure the conditions are calm. What could possibly happen? Heart attack or stroke, but I'm not predisposed. OOA won't happen. Just like I never ran out of gas in 32 years of driving--because I watch the gauge.

Diving being blissful, solo diving is the same on a higher level. Solitude, time to spend on what is there to explore without having to worry about a buddy.
