I couldn't agree with you more. Last weekend I took a friend of mine who's currently living in Egypt and has only dove the Red Sea, out to Anacapa. The greatest joy of the day was seeing her face light up as we encountered a bat ray feeding on sea urchin. We were able to peak out over a ridge and observe it hovering over the rocks sucking up the urchins for a good five minutes not 10 feet away from us. It was a really special encounter made even more so because I could share it with my friend. That to me is what good buddy diving is all about.
