there were 4 of us that day: me and my regular buddy
and the two other divers who were our 'hosts' (we
were the guests).
the hosts were diving dry, we were diving wet (my
buddy a one piece, me a two piece). i was shivering
about a 1/3 into the dive off pt loma; even afterwards
our hosts said that THEY could feel the cold and felt bad
for US!
one of my hosts, dean, told me that san diego was
typically cooler than off l.a. and the islands.
apparently, and based on what he told me, there are
no protective coves or bays to dive out of like
off l.a./the islands, so san diego gets a lot of
open ocean flow.
i definitely want to get into my new drysuit
to dive s.d. again.
