I feel that the best investment that you can make is a regulator and computer (console). Not everyone rents computers and I am not to fond of putting somthing in my mouth for an hour at a time that has been in hundreds of other peoples mouths with little chance of it being disinfected...
It's also fun to explain to airport security what the large metal object with all the hoses and electronics is in your carry-on bag...
