We have had 4 deaths in the last 2 months,all were experienced, self-reliant divers, diving alone(all would still be alive today if the buddy had of been there).
In the 30 years I have been diving I have seen buddy's save each other over and over again.
The buddy system is not perfect, but it's better then the alternative.
