Yes, a flooding mask can lead to panic if it is not exercised enough to a point where it becomes normal.
I hope this doesn't get counted as another solo incident--after all, she was solo after she ran away from her buddy (who was not of much help where it counted most--no offense to the buddy, just a remark in direction of overrating a buddy.)
