Immediately the subject jumps to buddy practices
with speculation all around. Let's save some of
this armchair quarterbacking for .... oh, I forgot,
no NFL in LA anymore. Think about USC's kicking problems.
Folks - people get injured diving. It's inevitable.
All you can do is take care of yourself. Make sure
you get adequete training. Find a nuturing club or
more experienced buddies, or a good class (3Rs and
the LAC for example)if you need more seasoning.
Get in the best shape you can. This is valuable far
beyond diving. Don't be afraid to bail on a dive
if you don't feel good.
And if something happens in the water, try not to
react before thinking. In most circumstances, you
have the time to stop, breathe a couple, and then
think it through. Haste leads to panics.
And those of you in that 50 dive category, now is
not the time to be getting complacent. Fall is coming
and with that a bit more weather out on the ocean.
