Paul Humann's Coastal Fish ID for CA confirms the existence of the Pacific Seahorse (Hippocampus ingens). Size 4-8", max. 1 ft. Depth 10-60 ft.

Abundance and distribution: Rare extreme southern California.

The related Chocolate Pipefish (Syngnatus euchrous) is described "uncommon to rare southern California. Also south to central Baja."
