I think even for those that are using the pony as
a second air source and are alone (so no handoffs),
stage mounting still makes more sense.
It's much easier to don/doff, no hassle as you switch
tanks (admittedly less an issue in SoCal boats),
and you can see it, handle it easily. The option
of a button SPG exists, whereas with a backmount
you'd probably want an SPG on a short hose.
