If you are using a pony as a bailout, and let's not get to into semantics, because in my view once you switch to a secondary air source you should be in bailout mode, the SPG should be a moot point. Once you switch over, the dive is over and you should ascend ASAP, but having 13 CuFt of air does provide sufficient air to ascend slow enough so as not to embolize.

If you are using the pony as and added ( NOT BAILOUT ) then I have different problems with your gas planning and we can discuss SPG's. But in my view you don't need a SPG for a bailout.
