Thank you, Ken, for both your assistance to Gail and your detailed report of the event.
Apart from the issue of solo vs. buddy diving, Gail was not skilled or experienced in self-rescue, especially with only 20 dives and not having dove in a year. This unfortunate incident emphacizes the fact that buddy diving is least effective with divers that need it the most.
Based on past diving accident litigations, expect Gail's relatives to file a law suit against her buddy...and probably win. A lose, lose situation for everyone.
