Page 4 of the Daily News has a full story on it. According to the story ( I was not there so I'm only repeating what's in the newspaper ) a team of two brothers went into a water filled shaft and got trapped. The shaft is 5 to 6 feet wide, 7 to 8 feet high and 400 - 600 feet long. The victim was a 38 year old man and was a certified diver with the U.S. Air Force rescue team. While they went in as a team they got seperated. The brother apparently tried to pull the tether line but it was stuck.
The report says the the victim had 2 1/2 hours of air supply and they went in the water at 11:00am, and the brother went to the sheriff's station at 1:20pm and the diver's from the Sheriff's dive team found the body at 5:45.
That's all I know and it comes from the newspaper.
