Wayne, you write:

How does that work in a panic ascent? It doesn't, of course, and SA has never been tested in that situation because how do you field test real panic?

If SA is used as you suggest, then why have one in the first place? Purposely run out of air at depth then calmly switch to SA? What a waste of money.
