Just curious, Randy: what was the objective of the dives, i.e., game, photography, sight-seeing, what? What were your depths and length of dives? Was it a club dive or open boat? Etc., etc.
Per my earlier posts, I always dive with other divers, but I dive independent of them, mainly on the same shipwreck. So I "fin" the middle of the road, halfway between solo and buddy. Been working fine for 36 years, world-wide.
