If you are referring to me when you speak of the *experts* or highly opinionated about DIR ( which I assume I'm one of the crowd you are referring to ), I think it is important to analyze accidents for purposes of learning from other's mistakes.
The reality is that most fatalities could be easily preventable, and the only added contribution these diver's can make is to learn from there mistakes. I don't think burying the facts, or ignoring them is particularly helpful, in fact, I would argue just the opposite. Once you stop wanting to learn you should give up scuba.
