An old fashion back pack, without a BC, is far more streamlined than a DIR set up.
The tank is closer to your back than a single tank adapter on a tech back plate, and the lack of BC enables a serious drag reduction.
Having dove with both configurations, for a single tank, the old fashion back pack is much nicer to dive with.
