I cannot agree with you more on this. I thought it was an ambush. This is the kind of thing that is done by visiting the shop and asking nicely about what the policies are. Not by an ambush on a public forum.
In my business we have learned that there are some jobs not worth taking and some customers not worth taking their orders. If Ville was a customer of ours, we would politely refuse to sell to him again.
Sadly this would force him to the big impersonal discount chains and he would get none of the benefits of a relationship with a local shop. But would be by his own actions. Oh well.
I am so glad that I am not in the SCUBA business. But I am glad that a few adventurous souls are there for my benefit, and others like me who need to visit and buy equipment.
