here is what I learned (regarding instructors):
If you want the most thorough and in-depth course, go with Tom (last name will follow, find it in the YMCA list) for the NAUI advanced rescue.
If you want the shorter, basic rescue course, I can recommend John Lumb with Reef Seekers in LA. I did it with John and was very pleased.
Another recommendation would be the instructor who works with Beach Cities Scuba in O.C. Lost his name and will add later.
