Well, besides the multi-day, price, availability, and schedule conflicts, not much. And for the record, I was scheduled for a three day charter trip that was cancelled when the shop owner and the captain had a disagreement. So those aren't immune either. But at least I know why that one was canned, and it wasn't really a boat issue.

But I think that is dodging the issue, which is do "open boat" trips actually exist? Should I forsake them entirely in favor of charter trips? If so, why are they scheduled, and even more important why are the scheduled at the times most convenient for me?

Am I just having an unlucky run, statiscally speaking?

Or am I cursed. I think I may be. I was attacked by a *huge* crow on my run yesterday morning. It dropped off a light-pole and pecked me in the back of the head. Then flew up, turned around, and dove right for my face. Definately a bad omen.
