I went out to the Caissons today and my two buddies and I all used 6' Jon lines made of 1" nylon webbing with a brass clip at on end for your BC/backplate. The current was strong enough to warrant use of the lines and it was very comfortable not having to hold onto the rode. I've used shorter lines before, but 6' seemed fine to me.
