I use a SS clip. The anchor version you site is the Manta Bob line and is overly cumbersome and not worth the trouble. I used them several years ago and I still have one sitting in my garage if anyone wants them.
Use the spool, then you won't need another peices of gear, should it be necessary you can lay out upwards of 100' of line.
If you have ever done any kind of diving where the majority of the team arrives at the deco stops at the same time you could have as many as 6 guys all with 6' - 8' of jon line out. If you have any kind of current or any kind of meaningful deco obligation it get's toocrowded on the line. By using a spool everyone can let out as much/little as they need.
Later
