Absent financial considerations I would dive Heliox all the time... Nitrogen is a much less friendlier gas than Helium, but it's free..
Helium is a much frienlier gas, it is a less dense gas so it is therefore easier to breathe, it contains no narcotic properties..
It should be noted for the record that dives in excess of 400' there is a condition called HPNS caused by Helium but this is well beyond the scope of these discussions...
