Joakim, First of all, solo diving in Laguna is a no..no, citations are issued. The life guards are there year around.
I suggest that you get an orientation dive to South Calif. surf diving before you attempt it.
Laguna Sea Sports is just above Shaw's cove, and I'm sure you could get and orientation form them(for a small fee).
Solo diving for the most part is a bad diving technique.Laguna has lost two divers this year, both in the surf line, one solo diving and one solo after the buddy left him to swim back to shore by himself.
You should join one the many Dive Club's, or stop by one of your local Dive stores, and see if they have a buddy list, or take a class there.
But if you are going to dive alone at lest get a good orientation before you do it.
