Your best bet is at night when they're out foraging. Once you spot them in your light beam, shine somewhere else again, approach them close, shine at them again to baffle them and then immediately pin them down first, then grab them.

During the day, you need to reach into their hideaways deep enough to grab them at least at the BASE of their antennae, or else, forget that bug. No tickle sticks allowed here.

Grabbing one of their antennae short of the base will only result in it breaking off. You want to spare the bug of poor reception ;-) If you can manage to grab the base, the bug will have stretched all he's got to have a strong hold in his cave. Your only chance is to surprise him by shaking him vigorously and then dragging him out.

In any event, measure the bug before you bag it, and when it is a legal one, bag it tail first.

Bon appetit,
Jusfer
