I live near there. True about the town and trees. Whenthe lake was created, it was going to flood one of the towns, so it was moved inland. some of the foundations are left. That said, DON"T bother. there is next to no vis. what i like to call liquid sand. I haven't tried, but know several who have, and all only once. Course you may do what you wish. The old town site isn't mapped that i've heard of, but some oldtimers might be able to tell you where it is. A couple years ago, the lake dropped low enough that a couple of the foundations were exposed. There was an article in the paper here about it, with some photo's.
