Robster:

Along the LA coastline, anything that protrudes from the bottom shallower that 60 feet is usually demolished as it is considered a navigational hazzard. Consequently it is difficult to find any wrecks in water shallower than 60 feet. There are some wrecks along the Palos Verdes penninsula that long ago sank near the shoreline, but must were salvaged or decayed since, so are barely recognizable as a wreck.

The underwater park at Avalon on Catalina Island has some scuttled boats (mostly smaller sail boats that are 40 feet long or so) along the outer perimeter of the park, in about seventy feet.

If you want to find out more about wrecks, try attending the California Wreck Divers meeting on the fourth wednesday of the month (October 25th this month) at Roundtable Pizza, which is just west of the 405 fwy on Redondo Beach Blvd (east of the Galleria).

If you can't make the meeting, they have a web page, and if you are a member of a club, CWD's can give presentations to your club. The web page has contact information: http://www.cawreckdivers.org/
