jrm, literally to each his/her own. i know that
not all divers will agree w/this sentiment, but
i really truly sincerely honestly believe it.

i did not like the 'apollo biofins' as i would
have to alter my personal kick to receive the benefits
of this fin. instead, i went w/a fin that suits
my abilities well.

the more divers i run into, the more divers
i find who do NOT like the 'apollo biofins'. however,
the other split fins are getting mixed reviews by
the same divers who don't like the 'apollo biofins'.
(i think one major issue is the very flexible [ie,
very soft] material used in the 'biofin'.)

there are a TON of other divers who absolutely love
the 'biofins' and swear by it.

so, there is a split: divers either love them, or
hate them.

based on my non-scientific observations, i've come
to the following conclusion:

**if a diver has ankle, knee, or general leg problems/injuries,
the 'apollo biofins' were liked much more than other
divers who do not have such biological issues.

i don't mean to imply that the divers who do
use and enjoy these fins are in any way biologically
defective(!!); but what i do mean to imply is
that the type of kick these same divers generally
use is best used w/the 'biofin' than the type of kick
that other divers use who have stronger legs.

ultimately, you will need to make the determination
yourself by trying a pair of 'biofins' (or other
split fins) in whatever conditions you plan on
using them in. if you like them, then go for it.
if you don't, then find something that suits your
abilities.

best wishes.

kelphead.
