I used to work at the dive shop at 22nd St. Landing in San Pedro and witnessed many poaching incidents involving this club. One day, DF&G wardens were waiting at the dock for the boats and when the Maverick pulled in with the Korean Divers club one of the divers had an aluminum 80 with the bottom cut off and a boot to hide the hole. It was filled with abalone. The wardens wrote him a hefty fine and tossed the abs into the water.
