I never, ever do wreck penetrations with another diver by my side. Again, we're back to "my way". And I definitely avoid restricted openings. The only time I've broken that "rule" was on the SM1 recovering a cage lamp. Of course, that was many, many years ago.
I mount the pony on the right side of my tank with the loose pin Pony Tamer product. The 2nd stage is attached to my BC with one of those pull free gizmos, as is the SPG.
Question: you know your primary on the 7' line is okay but how certain are you of the b/u under your chin?
