Au contraire, mes ami. It's shrinking. There's more contraction than expansion. More and more people are dropping out of diving each month/year than getting into it. And when they do get into it, it's mainly to qualify for a once or twice dip into tropical resort waters, then on to some other sport activity.
As to "my way", forget it. I'm too old a sea dog with too few dives left to enter into my mental log book to continue this discussion which I should never have started in the first place. You hard core techies are way out of my "old school" diving league.
