actually, after reading your post i just assumed
the wife was the buddy since you made no mention
that he was diving w/anyone--you just wrote that
the wife had trouble getting him into the boat
(what about that guy off catalina who passed
away over the summer while trying to recover
an anchor? his wife was looking out for him, too,
but she wasn't his buddy). so, i can clearly
understand why frank didn't get that the wife
was actually in the water next to her husband
while just diving w/him moments earlier, b/c
you really didn't explain it that way. but
it only took me a second to 'figure out' that
the buddy you were indirectly referring to
was indeed the wife. of course, when we are
discussing facts, they shouldn't be left out
or made vague, they should be clearly spelled
out in detail to avoid any confusion and so as
not to force others to assume or guess them.
also, i didn't refer to the link which you
provided b/c i didn't have time to check it
out, but i'm guessing that the on-line report
would have confirmed the wife was indeed the
buddy--just a guess, though.
