re:the issue about the book 'solo diving', i was
not arguing for the sake of arguing. i do believe
that if someone (ie, you) tries to keep the rest
of us on our toes re:facts, then the same should
be required of that same person. the best debators
are those who DO research the 'other' side, the
side they don't agree with, the side they think
is downright wrong, in order to debate them
more effectively and to win the arguments based
on knowledge. so, you have may thought that reading 'solo
diving' was a waste of your time, but others take
a point of view that to win over your enemy, you
need to get to know them first. i'm not saying you had
to do this or that--i'm just saying you fell flat
on your face when you should have known better.
i shouldn't talk about stuff i don't know about, and
neither should others. i should make sure i get
my facts straight in order to debate properly, and
so should others. no one standard for one when it's
convenient and another standard for others.
re:the 'uscg' post, you are absolutely right there:
i was arguing for the sake of arguing just to be a thorn
in your side as much as you've become a thorn in
other people's side. i was personally displeased
by your most recent behaviour and since you decided
to keep it up w/frank in the 'uscg' post, i decided
to keep it up w/you. i never actually intended to post
further under the 'uscg' thread, but i felt like
being an ass to you there. the difference is i
didn't slander you or compromise any trust.
i'm willing to now let this go.
