You'll really enjoy diving off of the Great Escape. Although I think the Mr. C is a fine boat, the Great Escape is much larger and for the long haul, more comfortable. Their galley and bunk area is huge and you'll have lots of room to suit up for diving.
As far as the diving goes - you'll love the sea lions. Especially at the rookery where they'll come right up to you. Don't be spooked - as long as you keep your hands to yourself and don't go chasing after pups, you'll be fine.
The only downside is that the island is far out there and quite exposed, so if there's a heavy swell, you might end up at San Clemente Island instead. This happened to me a couple of times last year on two separate boats. The diving on San Clemente was great, so it wasn't such a bad concelation prize.
